NUESTRA HISTORY/ OUR HISTORY
Nuestra historia comenzó en 1904, cuando varias familias, como los McNeil, DeHetre, Murphy, Carson y Watson, comenzaron a reunirse para convertirse en la Comunidad Católica de la Ciudad de Compton. Desde un comienzo muy simple en un pequeño edificio escolar en Tamarind y Palmer St., esas familias creyeron que el poder de Jesús en ellos podría fundar una ciudad. Cuarenta y ocho años más tarde, ellos, con otros, construyeron la Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Victoria. Un siglo después, creemos en el poder de Jesús para sanar este lugar y permitir que la belleza de esta comunidad eclipse la oscuridad.

Our history began in 1904, when several families, like the McNeil, DeHetre, Murphy, Carson and Watson’s started to gather to become the Catholic Community of the City of Compton. From the very simple beginning in a little school building on Tamarind and Palmer St., those families believed that the power of Jesus in them could found a city. Forty- Eight years later they, with others, built Our Lady of Victory Church. A century later we believe in Jesus power to heal this place and allow beauty of this community to overshadow the darkness.

La misión de la Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Victoria es afirmar y desarrollar un llamado bautismal apostólico y profético en nuestra comunidad parroquial multicultural, a través de una formación apasionada y espiritual, alcanzando a otros, creando una comunidad y trabajando por la justicia social con un espíritu misionero. Buscaremos transformar las familias, la iglesia y la sociedad sin limitaciones ni fronteras.

Our Lady of Victory Church mission is to affirm and develop an apostolic and prophetic baptismal call on our multi-cultural parish community, through a passionate and spiritual formation, reaching others, creating community and working for social justice with a missionary spirit. We will seek to transform families, church and society without limitations and boundaries.
